Over four days, 1,117 enterprises, 400,000 visitors, and RMB 20.36 billion in intended procurement — the numbers are impressive, but what truly lingers is the shift in the event's tone.
Fading hype, AI enters the "construction blueprint" phase
If you've attended WAIC in previous years, you'll notice a clear difference this year: fewer "blockbuster announcement" banners on booths, more live demos that actually run; fewer spec comparisons on slides, more hands-on experiences for visitors. In the industry exhibition areas, the conversation has shifted from "what can LLMs do" to "where LLMs are better deployed." A consensus is taking shape: AI's next chapter isn't about competing in the cloud — it's about proving itself at the edge.
Edge explosion: not a fallback, but a lead actor
The busiest spots at WAIC this year weren't just the trillion-parameter LLM vendors — edge solution providers were also a major highlight. On the afternoon of July 19, EDATEC × Arm China's "AI Tech Open Mic" Tech Talk took the stage at the Arm China booth. Edward Zong, Field Application Engineer at EDATEC, delivered a hardcore technical presentation, unpacking the new OpenClaw ecosystem strategy and unlocking fresh approaches to full-stack edge computing development.
This solution actually addresses a practical problem: enterprises want to deploy AI, but data can't go online, they lack dedicated O&M staff, and budgets are tight. So what's the answer? Simple — a palm-sized box that, when plugged in, connected to the network, and configured with a few clicks, runs a fully local AI agent that never sends data off-premises.
Behind this buzz is a collective market shift from "stargazing" to "feet on the ground." People are no longer content to hear AI stories — they want to see AI get things done.
The power of ecosystem: the era of going it alone is over
EDATEC contributed its battle-tested industrial-grade Raspberry Pi hardware foundation, while Arm China's JishuShell community delivered the JishuShell management tool, deeply optimized for the Arm architecture. Hardware vendors understand reliability and mass production; the community understands developer pain points and software toolchains. Together, they've made "zero-barrier private AI" a reality.
This "developer community + software toolchain + hardware foundation" trinity model may well be the optimal path to rapid edge AI scaling. The era of brute-force solo efforts is behind us.
